Labor Law Poster Alert: Utah Releases Updated Workplace Safety and Health Poster

In May 2025, the Utah Labor Commission issued a revised version of the mandatory “Workplace Safety and Health in the State of Utah” poster. The new poster features increased penalty amounts under the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Act, ensuring employers provide safe and healthful workplaces.

What’s on the New 2025 Utah Workplace Safety and Health Poster

Increased Penalties

The Utah Occupational Safety and Health (UOSH) Division of the Utah Labor Commission increased penalties for violations by more than twofold:

  • A serious violation – up to $16,131.
  • Willful or repeated violations – up to $161,323
  • Failure to correct or abate a violation – up to $16,131 for each day

New website addresses

The revised poster provides new website addresses where:

  • Employers can notify UOSH of workplace injuries or illnesses
  • Employees can file a safety complaint
  • Additional information about UOSH can be obtained

The Importance of Posting Compliance

Ensuring labor law posting compliance is essential for multiple reasons:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Utah employers must display the current UOSH poster with updated information in a conspicuous area of the workplace. Failure to do so can result in costly fines and legal battles.
  1. Safety & Awareness: The poster promotes employer responsibilities to provide a workplace free from hazards and reinforces a safety-first approach.
  1. Employee Empowerment: Employees gain clear, accessible information on their rights to a safe and healthful work environment, how to report unsafe conditions, and protections against employer retaliation.
